Amazon warehouse workers in Alabama speak out ahead of union election
For the first time in the media, some current and former workers at the BHM1 warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama discuss working conditions, fear of retaliation, use of NDAs
The National Labor Relations Board is currently holding hearings over the scope of a union election after workers filed a petition to form a union with the board on November 20.
Amazon tried to delay the hearings until next month, but failed. The company is currently attempting to broaden the bargaining unit ahead of a union election.
I spoke with some current and former workers at the warehouse about the working conditions there, high attrition rates, and surmounting productivity pressures on top of working through a pandemic.
