Trump's Lies and Failures of US Workers
Since Trump’s 2016 Presidential Campaign, he’s travelled the US at rallies, and through his administration making false promises and lies to US workers around the country, claiming he would bring back jobs and stop offshoring, that he would be the “worker champion” for workers.
But from abysmally failing to get a handle of the COVID-19 pandemic, failing the needs of the unemployed and workers hurting as a result, awarding federal contracts to corporations that continue to send jobs abroad, dismantling workers’ rights, undermining and attacking labor unions, the lies and fake promises of trickle down economics used to promote his 2017 tax cut bill to help the rich, the list goes on and on.
Trump made several claims and promises to lower prescription drug costs for Americans. Despite claims and lies about executive orders providing solutions, millions of Americans have continue to be price gouged by big pharma, millions of workers have lost their employer tied health insurance during the pandemic, and millions of additional Americans have been added to the growing number of Americans who have no health insurance at all.

The result for Americans has continued to be disastrous. An estimated 64,000 Americans die every year as a result of having no health insurance. Another estimated 530,000 Americans file bankruptcy annually, citing medical debt as a contributing cause.

Trump has paid significantly less in taxes than the average US worker, using losses to offset his annual tax payments.

He’s still attempting to dismantle and slow down the United States Postal Service.

He’s emboldened union busting corporations and dismantled the National Labor Relations Board, which have continued to strip away workers’ rights and constantly add new rules to make it more difficult for workers to organize.

He’s failed to bring back coal, an industry in steep decline, with retired miners fighting years to receive black lung benefits and whose pensions are at risk of solvency.

His administration has refused to implement federal safety standards for heat illnesses, and OSHA is severely understaffed and not enforcing labor laws.

His trade wars have displaced thousands of US workers

His administration has union busted unions at federal agencies.
He’s thrown thousands off of SNAP assistance and eroded the already inadequate social safety net.
Ahead of election day, labor union leaders and officials have considered the possibility of a need to quickly organize and implement a general strike, as Trump and Republicans have engaged in widespread voter suppression efforts and Trump has personally alluded to the possibility he will refuse to leave office if he loses the election.
American workers have continued to suffer under the Trump Administration, and workers cannot afford another four years of a Trump Administration keen on union busting and exploiting workers at the benefit of corporate concentration and the wealthy.
