'We're fighting for our future': Kellogg's cereal workers strike at four US plants
Around 1,400 workers at four Kellogg’s cereal production plants in Battle Creek, Michigan, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Memphis, Tennessee, and Omaha, Nebraska went on strike this week after their current union contract expired. Kellogg’s is pushing for a two-tier proposal that includes cuts to wages, healthcare, pensions, and the company also wants to remove the union label from Kellogg’s cereal boxes.
“We've got a coworker who actually died while working through this pandemic, who actually died from COVID-19. We've had numerous employees who have encountered COVID-19 and fought for their lives, and by the grace of God they're still here,” said Kevin Bradshaw, Vice President of Local 252G who has worked at the Kellogg’s plant in Memphis, Tennessee for 20 years. “We’re fighting corporate greed. We just want people to be paid equal wages across the board.”
